Sukhoi Civil Aircraft Company (SCAC) has delivered Moscow-based Red Wings’ first Sukhoi Superjet 100. Bearing tail number RA-89021, the 93-seat regional jet arrived on January 19 at the airline’s home base of Moscow Domodedovo International Airport after a short ferry flight from SCAC’s delivery center in Zhukovsky, just outside the capital city.
Red Wings plans to place the airplane into operation on routes from Moscow to the southern Russian cities of Makhachkala and Grozny “in a couple of days.” Future destinations in Red Wings’ plans include Ufa, Sochi and Mineralnye Vody.
Red Wings acquired the airplane under a three-year lease deal with SCAC with an option for an extension. Founded in 1999, the airline performs both domestic and international scheduled and charter domestic flights. Red Wings’ passenger traffic last year totaled more than 1 million.
