All operations into and out of Dubai International Airport remain suspended following the crash landing on Wednesday of an Emirates Airline Boeing 777-300 arriving from Thiruvananthapuram in India. Flight EK521 carried 282 passengers and 18 crewmembers, all of who evacuated before a subsequent explosion and fire eviscerated the fuselage. Emirates reported that no fatalities resulted from the crash landing. However, the UAE's Civil Aviation Authority reported that one firefighter died while fighting the blaze.

The flight departed at 10:19 a.m. from Trivandrum International Airport and landed in Dubai at 12:45 p.m. in Dubai.

In a statement issued at 3:36 p.m. local time, Emirates listed 21 canceled flights into and out of Dubai and added that it expected an eight-hour network-wide delay. Dubai International operator Dubai Airports said departing flights would resume at 6:30 p.m.
