Operations into and out of Dubai International Airport had returned to normal as of Saturday, August 6, three days after the crash landing of an Emirates Airline Boeing 777-300 arriving from Thiruvananthapuram, India. “Dubai Airports confirms that it has lifted all remaining capacity restrictions at DXB and the airport resumed normal operations on the afternoon of Saturday,” Dubai International operator Dubai Airports said in statement. “The ability to prioritize large aircraft has enabled a return to regular scheduled activity sooner than anticipated.”

Authorities from the United Arab Emirates continue to investigate the cause of the August 3 accident, video footage of which appeared to show landing gear failure. By the time the airplane came to rest, its right engine separated from its pylon and fire had broken out. Flight EK521 carried 282 passengers and 18 crewmembers, all of who evacuated before the fire and subsequent explosion eviscerated the fuselage. Emirates reported no fatalities and 13 minor injuries. The flight departed at 10:19 a.m. from Trivandrum International Airport and landed at 12:45 p.m. in Dubai.

In a statement issued on the day of the crash at 3:36 p.m. local time, Emirates listed 21 canceled flights into and out of Dubai and added that it expected an eight-hour network-wide delay. Departing “priority” flights, mainly international services, resumed at 6:30 p.m.
