Content Body

Rescue crews have evacuated all 162 passengers, two pilots and four cabin crew from a Pegasus Airlines Boeing 737-800 following a runway excursion on Saturday that left the airplane stuck on a cliff adjacent to Trabzon Airport in Turkey. Flight PC 8622, arriving at 6:25 p.m. UTC from Ankara, careened off Runway 29 upon landing and came to rest just feet from the Black Sea, its wheels stuck in the mud of the steep embankment.

In a statement, Pegasus said no one suffered injuries, although Trabzon governor Yucel Yavuz told Anadolu news agency rescuers had taken some to the hospital as a precautionary measure. Turkish aviation authorities have yet to indicate a possible cause for the accident. Weather conditions included fog and light rain.
