American Airlines has extended flight cancellations forced by the grounding of the Boeing 737 Max through November 2, the airline announced Sunday. The extended grounding of the Max will continue to result in the cancellation of 115 flights a day at the airline, as the U.S. Federal Aviation Administration and Boeing work to certify fixes to faulty software programs discovered following two crashes of the Max 8 that claimed 346 lives.

American’s extension of its cancellation plan comes two days after United Airlines extended its own Max cancellations through November 3. The other U.S. operator of the Max—Southwest Airlines—has canceled all Max flights through October 1.

Citing unidentified sources within the FAA, the Wall Street Journal reported over the weekend that the Max grounding would likely last into January amid further delays to developing and certifying revised software and pilot-training changes and an expansion of safety analyses to cover a growing list of related concerns.
