The International Civil Aviation Organization has created an airport status app for operators. Updated daily, the app lists the number of departures observed in each of ICAO’s 192 member states over the past seven days and indicates percentage-measured week-over-week changes in departures. A traffic data label for each airport or country allows users to see daily departures over time since October 2019. Operators can access Covid-19 Notams via APIs through ICAO’s API Data Service.
The app’s Thursday log for the U.S. shows 5,482 departures, down 56.12 percent from a week earlier. A drop-down menu covering 182 airports in the country shows 396 departures at New York JFK, down 59.72 percent over the course of a week, while Newark International saw 215 departures, down 64.46 percent from a week earlier.
Meanwhile, ICAO continues work on a new web site designed to provide a central location to share experiences, best practices, and other information related to Covid-19 contingencies.
