Boeing’s Jeppesen company has provided flight deck and planning aids to the airline business for many years, and continues to support customers in the sector through new digital products. The company’s FliteDeck Advisor tool allows flight crews of Boeing aircraft to optimize fuel use and carbon emissions by making real-time adjustments to airspeed, based on analysis of aircraft performance metrics. Trial customer Virgin Atlantic delivered 1.7 percent fuel savings on its Boeing 787s over a three-month trial. Corendon Dutch Airlines and Albawings have also adopted the tool, bringing the number of FliteDeck Advisor customers to 17.
Meanwhile, Air France has adopted the Jeppesen Crew Rostering tool that optimizes crew schedules for the carrier’s cabin crew roster of nearly 13,000 personnel. The digital tool takes into account a range of factors, including legal requirements, training, crew availability and preferences, and reserves. Air France has been using the Crew Pairing digital system since 1999 to increase operational crew efficiency.
