CAE is bolstering its air traffic services training capabilities with eye-tracking technology that would be used to assess how trainees scan, process, and respond to dynamic radar environments. The training provider already uses eye tracking for pilot training and is demonstrating it at Airspace World 2025 this week in Lisbon, Portugal.
During the demonstration, visitors can participate in a real-time operational environment and see how eye-tracking analytics can be used to “assess trainee focus, scanning behavior, and response prioritization under pressure,” according to CAE.
Modern training techniques are critical for air navigation service providers (ANSPs) that are accelerating modernization efforts with innovations such as trajectory-based operations, improved infrastructure, and new technologies, according to Marie-Christine Cloutier, v-p, strategy, performance, and marketing at CAE and head of its new Air Traffic Services division. “We need to prepare the next generation of air traffic personnel and ensure ANSPs are future-ready with high-quality training programs and adequate training capacity. CAE’s turnkey expertise in competency-based training design, advanced instructional delivery, and data-driven technologies can support ANSPs in this transformation.”
In October, CAE opened its first air traffic services training center under a partnership with Nav Canada in Montreal.
