Astronics has developed two products that will make it easier for passengers to charge devices: a Qi2 wireless charging module and the 1327-27 dual USB-C in-seat charging port.
The EmPower Qi2 wireless charging module delivers 25 watts of output power and features MagSafe compatibility to ensure reliable magnetic alignment and precise device alignment. The charger’s proud mounting design accommodates smartphones with camera lenses that aren’t flush with the back of the device.
Features of the Qi2 include charging status light signals, backward compatibility with non-Qi2 smartphones, replacement in less than three minutes to speed maintenance, compliance with RTCA DO-160 environmental testing standards, and a predicted 50,000-hour mean time between failure.
With 60 watts combined power across the 1327-27 USB charger, “Passengers can now simultaneously and efficiently charge their high-power devices such as laptops, tablets, smartphones, and other PEDs during flight,” according to Astronics. With only one device in use, the full 60 watts is delivered to a single port.
The charging port features a blue LED backlight and customizable faceplate color options.
