British Aerospace Hawker 700, Teterboro, N.J., March 8, 2005–The NTSB blamed the overrun on the pilot-in-command’s inadequate in-flight planning for landing on a contaminated runway. The Board cited inadequate crew coordination, gusty winds and a slush-covered runway as factors.

The ATP-rated pilot of the Hawker and the ATP-rated copilot, who spoke broken English, had not flown together before. The copilot failed to report the ATIS information about slush on all surfaces at Teterboro Airport (TEB), and the pilot did not ask about runway conditions. ATC reported that pilots of an aircraft that landed before them had good braking action, but that airplane had thrust reversers and the Hawker did not. Wind was 340 degrees at 15 knots, then at 20. Because of the wind, the pilot flew final approach without full flaps at Vref plus 20 (139 knots) and slowed to 134 knots over the threshold. The Hawker overran the runway. No one was injured and the airplane sustained only minor damage.
