The UK Air Accidents Investigation Branch has launched a formal investigation into the factors leading to the February 5 overrun of a German-registered Challenger 604, D-ABCD, at London Luton Airport. Operated by Cirrus Aviation, a Lufthansa partner carrier, the flight originated from Geneva and was carrying three crew and one passenger. There were no injuries to the occupants and no significant damage to the aircraft.

At 1232Z the Challenger was landing on Runway 26, which has a landing distance of 6,807 feet with a prepared runway overrun safety area of 200 feet. According to airport officials, the aircraft came to rest within the safety area. The airport was closed until 1545Z, when departure flights resumed, but it did not achieve full operational status until the aircraft had been removed and runway safety checks carried out just after midnight. Founded in February 1995, Cirrus operates a mixed fleet of corporate jets from various locations within Germany.
