Bombardier CRJ-299 Regional Jet, Dulles Airport, Va., March 9, 2002–“The airplane’s collision with two wild turkeys” was the probable cause of a CRJ accident, according to the NTSB.

During its takeoff roll at Washington Dulles International Airport, the Atlantic Coast Airways CRJ hit two wild turkeys. One struck the number-two engine intake. The other cracked the copilot’s windshield, penetrating the pressure bulkhead, and entered the back of the instrument panel. The captain aborted the takeoff at about 110 knots. No one was injured.
