Bombardier CL-600-2B19, Los Angeles, June 12, 2005–The Skywest Airlines airplane, operating as United Express Flight 6543, touched down at Los Angeles International Airport (LAX) with the nosegear partially extended. No one was injured.

The accident flight was scheduled to be the flight crew’s fourth trip of the day and the airplane’s eighth flight. The flight had departed LAX for Santa Barbara, but when the landing gear was extended, both pilots heard the nose landing gear doors open almost immediately but a “gear disagree” warning message was displayed showing that the main landing gear was down and locked.

llowing the checklist, the first officer pulled the manual release handle, but the gear indication remained unchanged. The captain declared an emergency. The airplane touched down on Runway 25L, making initial contact with the main landing gear. The airplane continued to roll on the main landing gear, and as the groundspeed dissipated the nose lowered, contacting the runway surface. System and component tests are in process.
