Million Air Reopens At NEW

Using temporary buildings and skid-mounted fuel tanks, Million Air reopened for business October 19 at New Orleans Lakefront Airport (NEW). The FBO’s hangar and terminal building were severely damaged by high winds and flooding from Hurricane Katrina on August 28. Runways, taxiways and ramps at Lakefront have been declared safe to use, albeit for daytime operation only, according to Addie Fanguy, Million Air general manager. The airport received a $6.8 million FAA grant to replace signage and generators, as well as to reinforce the protective seawall on its northern boundary. In addition to the modular office buildings (2,100 sq ft), Million Air has added new fuel trucks. Next month, Fanguy said, Million Air plans to break ground on an all-new facility at NEW.
