Factory product support for Gulfstream IIs and GIIIs will move out from beneath the wing of Gulfstream service centers and find itself under the umbrella of Delaware-based General Dynamics Aviation Services (GDAS) on January 1. This follows a realignment that was revealed to AIN last Friday during a briefing on board a G450 flying at Mach 0.85 between Washington Dulles Airport and London Luton Airport (and setting the class speed record to cover the 3,290 nm between the two city pairs, with a flight time of 6 hours 12 minutes). General Dynamics is the parent company of Savannah, Ga.-based Gulfstream. Larry Flynn, president of Gulfstream product support, told AIN that the change addresses operators' concern that their GIIs and GIIIs sometimes take a backseat when competing with newer models for maintenance attention at Gulfstream's factory-owned service facilities. GDAS is already responsible for supporting the Westwind fleet.
