Dassault Wilmington, Averitt earn FAA award

Delaware-based Dassault Falcon Jet Wilmington and Nashville-based Averitt Aviation have received the FAA’s Diamond Award for aviation maintenance training. The FAA’s highest level award for maintenance training, the Diamond Award is a certificate of excellence given to select companies participating in the FAA Aviation Technician Training Program. To qualify, at least a quarter of an aviation service company’s maintenance technicians must participate in extensive training in a variety of aircraft systems, regulations and FAA rules during a 12-month period. One hundred percent of Averitt’s technicians participated.

To be eligible for individual awards, aviation technicians must complete two hours of FAA regulations training, 10 days or 58 hours of aviation maintenance training, and 40 classroom attendance hours or three credits in an approved college level course. In all, Averitt Aviation technicians received more than 200 hours of training. This marks the third year in a row Averitt Aviation received the prestigious honor.

“Receiving this award indicates Averitt’s goals toward excellence by placing high priority on knowledge and skills training for our associates,” said Steve Gregory, executive vice president of Averitt Aviation.

For Dassault Falcon Jet Wilmington, this is the second consecutive year the company has garnered the award. “Our maintenance technicians are dedicated masters of their craft and this award proves it,” said Todd McGahey, v-p and general manager of Dassault Falcon Jet Wilmington (the entity that resulted from Dassault’s purchase of Atlantic Aviation’s Wilmington, Del., facility in October 2000).
