Options discussed at cash-strapped HVN

NBAA said Tweed-New Haven Airport (HVN), Conn., is struggling financially and the local board of aldermen has asked the FAA what the consequences would be if the airport closed. The FAA responded that the ramifications would be considerable. The agency said nearby Danbury Airport (DXR), Sikorsky Memorial Airport (BDR) in Bridgeport and Waterbury-Oxford (OXC) would not be capable of absorbing additional general aviation and corporate traffic were HVN to close. NBAA is participating in meetings with the aldermen to discuss options.
