On June 2 officials from the FAA’s central region presented the type certificate for the Citation Sovereign to Cessna Aircraft, about eight months after the airplane debuted at last year’s NBAA Convention. David Brant, Cessna’s senior v-p of engineering, said on the occasion, “The Citation Sovereign incorporates many new technological advancements. The fully integrated Honeywell Primus Epic avionics, new highly efficient wing design and new production-line tooling are just a few advancements that we’ve achieved by adapting and improving existing technology.”

The Sovereign marks the first time Cessna has offered customers a fully certified FAA level-D simulator before first customer delivery. FlightSafety International received FAA approval for the Sovereign simulator in Wichita.

Cessna said it has firm orders for more than 100 copies of the approximately $13.5 million Sovereign. Customer deliveries are imminent.

Meanwhile, Cessna remains on schedule to receive certification of the Citation CJ3 this quarter.
