Jet Center to replace signature at LGA

Jet Center La Guardia will take over the FBO leasehold at New York La Guardia Airport (LGA) on August 1. Signature, the incumbent at LGA, chose not to re-bid for the contract following a controversial exchange last year with the airport’s operator, the Port Authority of New York and New Jersey. Signature had been paying a 9-percent concession fee, upped its offer to 18 percent in its attempt to extend its lease and protested when the Florida-based Jet Center Aviation Group was allowed into the bidding process late with an offer of 18.25 percent. The Port Authority threw out all bids last November and submitted a new request for proposals. Under Jet Center La Guardia’s new contract, signed the week of June 14, it will pay the Port Authority a fee of 26.26 percent of all revenue other than airline service fees.
