Charter Operators Likely To Gain from Beer Contest

Some European charter operators might get bookings when the prizes are awarded for this contest. Ten European beer drinkers and up to 70 of their family and friends could join the jet set for a few days, thanks to a contest being run by Danish brewer Carlsberg. Participants send in code numbers found on cans of Carlsberg lager, and on September 14 the company will draw winners from each of 10 participating European countries. They, along with seven guests, will then get virtually unlimited use of a business jet for a week within Europe. Carlsberg said it will be chartering jets for the winners and its promotional materials show a Learjet 45. Winners have to specify their travel itinerary before the trip, for which Carlesberg is also providing hotel accommodation and spending money. They can make intercontinental flights, but these will be provided by airlines (coach class). Carlsberg assessed the value of each prize at about $56,000.
