FAA Issues Comments to Regulation Review

The FAA said it is not going to act on nearly half of all comments submitted during a standard regulatory review that began in February 2004. By executive order, the agency is required to conduct a regular review of all regulations to ensure they are current and necessary. Almost 100 comments were submitted with regards to the review and on Tuesday the agency said it is declining to act on 47 of them. Although many of the 97 comments focused on air transport issues, others were in response to certification and basic flight rules. One commenter suggested allowing an operator to use the manufacturer’s standard minimum equipment list in place of a specific, FAA-approved list. In response, the FAA said, “While we do not necessarily disagree with the comment, due to resources allocated to other projects, this is not a high priority.”
