Cessna 208B Caravan, Decatur, Ill., Sept. 29, 2004 – The commercial pilot’s inadequate preflight preparation was to blame for the Planemasters cargo flight’s taking off at night from a closed runway and hitting a runway barricade, according to the NTSB. The runway at Decatur Airport was listed as out of service and was not lighted. No one was injured in the accident. The pilot was subsequently involved in another accident with a different operator in Canada.
