Mark Wilson, chief executive of the British Business and General Aviation Association (BBGA), plans to leave the organization in mid-October to take a new position as director of regulatory affairs with NetJets Europe. Wilson joined the General Aviation Manufacturers and Traders Association in 2003 and led its merger with the UK’s Business Aircraft Users Association to create BBGA. He has been closely involved in key European lobbying issues, including the contentious debate about whether fractional ownership should be regulated under a new set of quasi-private rules similar to the U.S. Part 91K standards. Along with other fractional providers in Europe, NetJets currently has to operate under commercial JAR-OPS 1 rules. European authorities are still trying to agree on the basis for introducing the new operating regime. BBGA hopes to be able to name Wilson’s successor by the end of next month.
