Citation rolls off runway on takeoff

There was no indication that the internal control lock was engaged on a Citation 550 that careened off the runway during its takeoff roll at Wiley Post Airport, in Bethany, Okla., last month, according to NTSB’s preliminary investigation. The pilot claims that when reaching V1 (103 kt), the nosewheel did not lift off the runway when he began to pull back on the control column. The jet, N13VP operated by Avalon Correctional Services, carrying one pilot and five passengers, went through a fence, across a road and through another fence before stopping. No serious injuries were reported.
