A one-time inspection is required to ensure that all installation fasteners are in place for the left and right aileron balance weights on Gulfstream Vs, in accordance with a September 26 AD (2003-18-11). Investigation of a GV that lost aileron control on final approach revealed that the outboard balance weight of the left aileron had detached and was wedged between the aileron and the rear beam of the wing. Further investigation revealed that all nine fastener assemblies for the balance weight were missing because they had not been installed properly during assembly, according to the FAA.
