An aeromedical Beechcraft King Air C90 en route from Chinle, Ariz., to Alamosa, Colo., crashed late Thursday night in the San Juan Mountains of southern Colorado, killing pilot Ric Miller, flight paramedic Dana Dedman and flight nurse Ronnie Helton. No patients were aboard the twin turboprop when it crashed in the mountainous and rugged terrain. According to reports, air traffic controllers lost radio and radar contact with the King Air at 11:22 p.m., and search-and-rescue aircraft found the wreckage situated at 11,800 feet on a mountain on Friday afternoon. The turboprop twin–N590GM, owned by Blanding, Colo.-based Scenic Aviation–was being operated by Eagle Medical, which runs an air ambulance service in Colorado, New Mexico, Arizona and Utah. It’s not readily apparent if the crew reported any problems before the crash, and the NTSB and FAA are continuing their investigation of the accident.
