Just in time for the cold winter months, Million Air Toronto at Toronto Buttonville Municipal Airport (CYKZ) has completed its new 38,600-sq-ft hangar at a cost of C$3.5 million. The seven-month project started last December and was finished in July. One of the hangar’s two 17,000-sq-ft bays is leased by Flight Exec, a charter/management company that relocated from Toronto City Centre Airport.
The hangar is 120 feet deep, with 100-foot-wide, 27-foot-high doors that can accommodate aircraft up to the size of a Falcon 900. Heating comes from a combination of gas-fired forced air and radiant sources. Million Air Toronto has been a link in the now Houston-based franchise chain since 1986.
Separately, Million Air Midway (MDW) in Chicago has at least temporarily shelved plans to construct an all-new terminal complex that had been scheduled for completion this fall. The company had unveiled plans for the new 20,000-sq-ft facility in July last year, reporting it had “made the business and financial commitment” to proceed with the project and was awaiting approval from the city of Chicago to go ahead.
