Content Body
Raytheon Aircraft selected Cox & Company of Manhattan, N.Y., to supply its electromagnetic expulsion de-icing (EMED) system for the horizontal stabilizer of the Hawker Horizon, which is scheduled to receive certification before year-end. The manufacturer describes EMEDs as a “low power” system that removes ice by a “very short, high-energy pulse that deflects the iced surface.” The leading edge of the wings and the engine inlet lips on the Horizon will be de-iced by engine bleed air. The EMED system is also used on the Beechcraft Premier I.
