Business aviation traffic continues to grow at Hong Kong’s Chek Lap Kok International Airport, and to serve that traffic, Hong Kong Business Aviation Centre (HKBAC), which is affiliated with FBO operator Signature Flight Support, opened a second hangar on September 3. Hangar 2 covers 38,000 sq ft and can accommodate Airbus ACJs and Boeing BBJs. Construction cost was nearly $13 million. The airport has also set aside funds to pay for more than doubling the size of the business aircraft ramp. HKBAC/Signature is the first Asian business aviation facility to offer on-site customs and immigration clearance. Traffic at the FBO has grown dramatically; the facility recorded 2,853 movements last year, up from 981 in 2000.
