Bombardier Learjet 35A, São Paulo, Brazil, Nov. 4, 2007–Eight people, six of them on the ground, were killed when the Reali Taxi Aereo Learjet crashed into a house about a minute after it took off from São Paulo’s Campo de Marte Airport. Another person on the ground was seriously injured. The ATP-rated pilot and the copilot of the Brazilian-registered Learjet were also killed, and the airplane was destroyed.
Taking off on Runway 30, with a two-knot wind from 300 degrees, the jet pitched up steeply, according to tower personnel, then rolled quickly to the right about 90 degrees. It started a right descending turn, then rolled left and continued descending. Tower advised the flight crew that the turn should be to the left, but there was no response. The airplane went in nearly vertically, damaging three houses. Weather was VMC.
