An enhancement to Honeywell’s Enhanced Ground Proximity Warning System (EGPWS) that aids pilots at unfamiliar airports in reduced visibility will be a factory option on most EGPWS-equipped Cessna Citations. Honeywell’s Phoenix-based avionics division announced at NBAA’03 last month that the Citation series will be the first business jets equipped with its Runway Awareness and Advisory System (RAAS), a $14,000 add-on that sounds audible warnings to help prevent runway incursions. John Uczekaj, vice president and general manager of Honeywell’s business, regional and general aviation avionics business, said RAAS serves as an aid to airport situational awareness by monitoring the aircraft’s position on the runway and taxiways and sounding a warning in the event of a deviation.
