Edinburgh, Scotland-based The First Call offers “first-person-on-the-scene training” for aircraft crews, and it also advises on equipment specification and selection. Through its team of accident and emergency specialists at the Aberdeen Royal Infirmary, it also provides on-call medical advice and support via satcom or HF/VHF radio.

The company can provide initial CPR training for aircrew in one or two days. Recurrent training should be conducted at least annually, but preferably every six months. The First Call said crews ought to be able to use a defibrillator after two to four hours of initial training. Support service is available from the firm, regardless of whether or not an aircraft operator uses in-flight medical diagnostic equipment.
