Fayetteville Air Service FBO is out and the city of Fayetteville, Ark., is in as far as fueling and other transient aircraft services are concerned at Drake Field. The sudden departure of the FBO occurred just as the airport is gearing up for business traffic associated with the college football season featuring the University of Arkansas Razorbacks. Special ATC procedures, including IFR and VFR slot requirements, are in effect from September 8 through October 27 at Drake Field and Springdale Municipal Airport. City officials said that Fayetteville Air Services chose not to “exercise any further lease option.” The city is providing fueling, crew and passenger services from the main terminal and its large ramp area (built to accommodate five airlines that no longer serve the airfield) rather than the former FBO facility. The new telephone number is (501) 718-7642.
