Thrane & Thrane (Booth No. 301) said it has started taking orders for its Aero-SB Lite satcom system. Billed as being the smallest and lightest of any SwiftBroadband satcom system on the market, Aero-SB Lite features built-in Wi-Fi and voice-over-IP capability as well as a compact intermediate-gain antenna. Passengers will be able to connect to the Internet at a maximum data rate of 432 kbps through Inmarsat’s SwiftBroadband aeronautical service, which recently went live in two of three global regions. Users have a choice of accessing streaming data on a pay-per-minute basis or background data, where the operator is charged only for the data sent.
The Danish company is hosting an information session today at 2 p.m. in Hall 1, Room F to provide potential buyers with more details about the product.
