Touching Bases: Euro FBO chain imposes handling surcharge

Execair, with FBOs in Aberdeen, Birmingham, Cardiff, East Midlands, Edinburgh, Glasgow and Inverness in the UK, as well as at Belgium’s Brussels Charleroi Airport, Prague Ruzyne Airport in the Czech Republic and Ireland’s Dublin Airport, instituted a 2-percent surcharge on business aircraft handling bills starting February 1. The surcharge, prompted by increased war-risk premiums in the wake of September 11, is listed as a separate line item on handling invoices.

Meanwhile, Execair has launched a new Web site (www.execair.co.uk) that allows operators to book handling requests online before departure. Customers can use the site to request landing permits, parking allocations, assistance with customs and immigration services, refueling, flight planning, weather briefings and ground transportation for both passengers and crew.
