A few years ago, who would have thought fingerprinting would be one of the services offered at an FBO? But in today’s security climate, Banyan Air Service at Fort Lauderdale Executive Airport (FXE), Fla., can be justly proud of its status as a TSA-approved fingerprinter for pilots from surrounding businesses. Derron Ungolo, Banyan’s pilot shop salesman and approved fingerprint taker, said he has immortalized the prints fingertips of close to 200 pilots and crewmembers, including those from nearby operators Hop-A-Jet, Air America, Bimini Island Air, Aviation Jet Charter and Reliance Aviation. Banyan offers fingerprinting services on Monday, Wednesday and Friday afternoons, as well as by appointment.
Besides its status as a fingerprint center, Banyan is a full-service 24/7 FBO with more than 1 million square feet of hangar space and an 85-acre leasehold at FXE. Besides line service, Banyan provides heavy maintenance, interior modifications, turbine engine service, structural repairs, prop and governor maintenance, avionics and parts sales and distribution. Banyan has been in business for more than 24 years and employs 175.
