The Bracamonte family sold the historic Jimsair Aviation Services FBO at San Diego International Airport to Landmark Aviation on July 18, bringing the Landmark chain to 42 FBOs. General manager John Bracamonte is staying on during the transition period until Landmark hires a new manager. Bracamonte’s grandfather opened the FBO in 1950, and John has been involved with the family business during the past 20 years. “It’s an honor to have that legacy,” he said. But selling the FBO, he added, “was for the family a good decision.” Jimsair is unusual in that its FBO office is inside one of the FBO hangars. The company had plans to build a new FBO and demolished the old facility in 2000 and set up in temporary quarters in a hangar. But over the years, Bracamonte said, “the future of the FBO was in question at this location” and the new facility didn’t materialize.
