Embraer has chosen International Communications Group’s ICS-400 Iridium communication system as standard equipment for the Lineage 1000, the company announced. The system incorporates all four of its Iridium transceivers with an international cabin telephony unit (CTU), creating what ICG v-p Jeff Saucedo described as “the industry’s only stand-alone, single-LRU, four-channel Iridium communications system.” The ICS-400 unit, he added, permits easy connection to conventional telephony devices or legacy CTU systems through standard, two-wire “tip-and-ring” circuits and four-wire audio connections, or via CEPT-E1 digital circuits. It also provides Arinc-429 connections and a dedicated short-burst data modem for Acars/AFIS services.
