In the Works: Embraer Legacy 450 and 500

Embraer announced major suppliers that are participating in the joint-definition phase of the Legacy 450 and 500 midsize jet program. Preliminary design for the two new jets was completed in July. The more than 20 suppliers will work with Embraer engineers to “validate the aircraft configuration through a fully digital process, using virtual-reality mockups, the Catia V5 software and state-of-the-art technology,” according to Embraer. In addition to previously announced engine provider Honeywell (HTF7500E) and avionics vendor Rockwell Collins (Pro Line Fusion), other suppliers include: BMW Group DesignworksUSA, interior design; SKF, thrust control quadrant and rudder pedals; Pacific Scientific, electrical power generation; FACC, interior furnishings and linings; Polyfab, insulation materials; Intertechnique, oxygen system; Héroux-Devtek, landing gear; Goodrich, cockpit seats; B/E Aerospace, passenger seats; Meggitt, bleed system, wheels and brakes (including the brake-by-wire control system); and Parker, flight controls, fuel and hydraulic systems.
