Gulf Coast Completes Twin Commander Upgrade

Lakeland, Fla.-based Gulf Coast Avionics announced it has completed its first installation of a Garmin G600 retrofit package. The glass avionics suite was installed in a Twin Commander 690C turboprop, the first of four the company has scheduled for modification along with a Cessna 402. The aircraft required the design and fabrication of new panels for both the pilot and copilot stations to accommodate the comprehensive upgrade. To enhance operation of the navigation and communications systems, various systems and instruments were relocated. Company president Rick Garcia has noted that Gulf Coast is seeing an upswing of interest in retrofit avionics installations.
