With this summer’s acquisition of Sky Connect by parent EMS Technologies, EMS Satcom can now offer full worldwide satellite communication coverage. Sky Connect, which continues to operate from Takoma Park, Md., offers tracking, text messaging and telephone service for airborne, ground and marine applications over the Iridium satellite network. With this voice and aeronautical low-speed data capability added to EMS Satcom’s Inmarsat satellite-based services the combined companies can now offer pole-to-pole and circumglobal service.

Sky Connect founders Steve Silverman and Wiley Loughran continue in charge of what is now the EMS Iridium-based business.
