Rosen Aviation (Booth No. 1438) landed at NBAA 2008 with a broad array of new and improved products, and the announcement that it has expanded its cabin capabilities by acquiring Avion Partners’ Ultra-CMS cabin management system.

According to Rosen president Darren Sparks, the Ultra-CMS complements the company’s IFE capabilities, allowing passengers to control all aspects of cabin entertainment–iPod, cabin lighting, 40 channels of audio and six channels of video–through touch-screen control panels at every seat. Rosen is displaying the Ultra-CMS at its booth throughout the show.
The system contains only four modules, simplifying installation and the customization capability through software rather than hardware configuration schemes.

The Eugene, Ore.-based company also revealed further enhancement of its entertainment system with the addition of XM satellite radio content.
The addition includes a distribution agreement with Heads Up Technologies of Carrolton, Texas (Booth No. 4111), which is licensed to design and manufacture XM-related devices for aircraft applications.

Rosen also recently announced its has selected the Quantum3D mapping system for the RosenView moving-map display. Quantum3D of San Jose, Calif., will be developing the three-dimensional aspect, along with a “human machine interface” to create a more user-friendly system.

The RosenView software development will be based on Quantum3D’s product line, including IData, IDatamap, IdData3D, GeoScape synthetic environment databases and Faces 3D models.

The RosenView high-definition, moving-map variant, available in late 2009, is on display at the Rosen booth.

Rosen is also presenting its new high-definition product line. The company is developing a wide range of high-definition products, including the 3D mapping for its RosenView moving-map display and a high-definition Blu-ray DVD player.
