Freedom Aero Service, a new repair station opened by people who used to work for Weco Aerospace Systems in Lincoln, Calif., received FAA certification on January 29. Freedom Aero offers business jet and helicopter electrical and electronic component and instrument repair and overhaul and is a dealer/distributor for Goodrich Power Systems, Edmo and Tesla Industries products. Key Freedom Aero personnel, with combined experience of more than 150 years, include Scott Durham, president and operations manager; Kevin Sherman, chief inspector and CFO; John Armstrong, sales manager; Doug Johnson, electronics supervisor and technical support; Walt Ford, rotable shop; Kathi Sherman, purchasing manager; and Matt Foreman, systems administrator. Freedom Aero expects to receive EASA certification shortly, said Durham. And soon the company will move to Sacramento-McClellan Airpark, where Freedom Aero has leased a 24,000-sq-ft former military repair facility that is ideally suited for component work. “It will be a good fit,” he said. “We already have some customers out there.”
