LifePort Delivers First Dedicated Medical Helicopter for Offshore Service

Helicopter interiors specialist LifePort of Woodland, Wash., has delivered a Sikorsky S-76 C++ that customer Petroleum Helicopters says will be the first dedicated, 24-hour offshore medical helicopter.

The aircraft is designed to serve the oil and gas industry and the cabin is equipped with cardiac monitors, 12-lead EKG equipment, defibrillator with pacing capacity, transport ventilators and IV pumps, as well as a LifePort-designed medical interior with two-patient capacity. The helicopter will carry a trained medical crew that will remain in constant contact with PHI’s communication center, the offshore facility being served and the receiving hospital. PHI says it is the first helicopter and crew in the Gulf of Mexico to be certified for and equipped with night-vision goggles.
