Austria-based cabin component supplier List here at EBACE revealed the first-ever flexible-stone product for business aircraft cabins. Applications include floors, lavatories and galleys. According to List, the technique of creating flexible stone is relatively simple but requires great precision. A thin slate of natural stone, such as granite or marble, is glued on a strong flexible support and is then sanded to a predetermined minimal thickness. The thin remaining layer of stone can then be twisted and glued on various forms. It will “microbreak” but without visible damage, and can be made watertight with a varnish. The company has partnerd with Ruag on aircraft refurbishment, and the first joint customer aircraft in completions at Ruag Zurich will receive a refurbished interior with the  stone floor.
