Embraer has temporarily closed its Executive Jet Services facility at Bradley International Airport in Windsor Locks, Conn., in response to the economic climate. “We saw we were not going to have as many airplanes flying in that region as we expected, so there was no sense in keeping the center open,” said Edson Carlos Mallaco, Embraer Executive Jets vice president for customer support and services. “Our plan is to reopen as we start delivering airplanes to the northeast region of the United States.” Mallaco said the company does not have a timetable but is estimating it is likely to occur “sometime next year.” The $10 million, 47,700-sq-ft center opened last October, one of three new Embraer-owned executive jet centers in the U.S. dedicated to supporting the company’s growing number of executive jet customers. The facility, which includes a hangar, workshops and office space, was part of a $100+ million investment that includes a network of 45 owned and authorized centers around the world.
