Content Body

Kingdom Holding Company has backed away from an agreement that would have allowed MAV Aircraft Services of Dallas/Fort Worth to do the interior completion of an Airbus A321 for the Saudi operator. As of early last month, the airplane and interior components had been moved for storage to a nearby hangar belonging to Phazar Aerocorp at Fort Worth Meacham International Airport.

According to a source at Phazar, as of September 1, engineers from Lufthansa Technik completion and refurbishment of Hamburg, Germany, were preparing the aircraft for a one-time flight permit to move it to Lufthansa’s completion and refurbishment facilities in Hamburg. Once there, Kingdom Holding will consider its options: keep the airplane and have the interior completion work finished or put it up for sale.

Lufthansa Technik can handle the project in Hamburg, or could fly the twinjet to Tulsa, Okla., where the interior finish could be done by its Bizjet International completion and refurbishment subsidiary.
