Snecma is continuing development of its 9,500- to 12,000-lb Silvercrest engine for large-cabin business jets and RJs, with certification now expected in the 2013 to 2015 time frame. Disassembly after 80 hours of operation, which took the test engine up to takeoff speed and temperature redlines, showed that the engine exceeds the company’s expectations. Snecma (Booth No. 5152) previously announced that goals for the engine included 15-percent reduced fuel burn, a 50-percent NOx margin in relation to ICAO’s CAEP/6 standard and a noise reduction of 20 EPN dB over ICAO Stage IV.
