Aviation parts supplier CRS Jet Spares announced plans to expand green initiatives aimed at reducing the environmental impact of its operations. To date the company’s programs have focused on reuse of crates, wood and packing material at its processing and receiving department, efforts that thus far have reduced processing waste by 50 percent. CRS Jet Spares reports its green program makes good business sense. “By taking advantage of avenues for the reuse of materials, we not only reduced our carbon footprint, but we saved money on waste removal,” said CEO Armando Leighton. The company supports Learjets, Hawkers, Gulfstreams, Beechjets, Falcons and Challengers with its component exchanges, sales and provisioning packages. CRS Jet Spares will now work with transport container vendors to ensure that recycled materials are being used in the production of its signature CRS white boxes. New emphasis has also been placed on simple steps such as turning off lights when they’re not needed and using non-disposable dishes and utensils. “Ultimately, it takes a team effort to reduce the company’s environmental impact and it is everyone’s responsibility to do what he or she can,” Leighton said.
