Preliminary Report: MU-2 Crashes on Approach

Mitsubishi MU-2B-60, Elyria, Ohio, Jan. 18, 2010–N80HH was destroyed and all four people on board were killed when the airplane went down short of Lorain County Regional Airport’s Runway 07 while on an instrument approach. The crew executed a missed approach to the runway, and on its second landing attempt a witness saw the airplane in a nose-low attitude and rolling to the left in a steep turn with wings almost perpendicular to the ground. The crash, in a field on airport property, caused a “huge cloud of snow” but there was no post-impact fire.
